Tibo’s Day 3: You can reset the quota. What about the working day?

Tibo’s Day 3 update brings me back to the projects still open on my desk: an article to revise, a website to adjust, a problem to investigate. I like trying new features. Lately, though, my work has felt interrupted by changes to the way I get it done.

A few days before this Chat announcement, GPT-6 felt unusually slow. My rough impression was about a quarter of its earlier speed. The following day felt roughly 50% faster than that slowest day, but still short of what I remembered. “Fifty percent faster” sounds encouraging. While waiting at the keyboard, I remember how long the same sort of work used to take.

A project also involves more than waiting for one answer. I ask it to read material, make changes, check them and continue. When the wait stretches out, I switch tasks. When the result arrives, I have to recover my train of thought. Several rounds can break up a whole productive stretch.

Navigation adds another interruption. The familiar Codex management entrance I used has moved to the ChatGPT website. A different page might sound minor, until I am busy and need to find the existing task, the right project or the place where I stopped. I want a familiar route back to work.

Something else has caught my attention: after switching projects, a conversation sometimes seems to bring in background from another project. I am beginning to wonder whether the way context travels between projects is changing. Repeating less would help, but each project has its own goals. I need to understand which background has come along, and be able to decide whether it belongs.

Within one project, I want the decisions we have already made to remain useful. Between projects, I want the boundaries to be visible and adjustable. That would make it easier to hand over sustained work without starting every session with another explanation.

My guess is that this round of product reorganization may take roughly a month to settle. Tibo’s reference to 28 days made me connect that guess with what I have been experiencing. Perhaps we are in the middle of the rearrangement. I hope speed, navigation and project continuity settle together.

Tibo mentions 40 million active users across Codex and ChatGPT Work combined. He also says banked resets are being distributed to paid accounts, so they can be kept for later use. Extra room is welcome when a limit interrupts unfinished work.

But a quota can be reset more easily than an interrupted afternoon. What I want most is to reopen the right project, understand what context is in play, and finish the work. Will those 28 days bring us closer? Let’s wait and see.
