03 / THE REVIEW METHOD

Three steps to a better review.

Prepare the context

Use a complete passage that meets the tool’s language and length requirements. Record whether translation, grammar assistance or AI editing was allowed. Remove sensitive details before sending text to a third party.

Read the actual report

Save the tool name, date, input version and result. Read what its score measures. A document probability and a percentage of flagged passages are different; do not treat scores from different products as interchangeable.

Review with evidence

Look at drafts, version history, citations and the author’s explanation. If the result is disputed, offer a human review and a chance to explain. Record uncertainty instead of forcing a verdict.

READING THE RESULT

A highlighted paragraph
needs context.

Treat the report as a prompt for further review.

  • High score: check the definition, the passage and the writing record before drawing a conclusion.
  • Low score: it does not certify human authorship, factual accuracy or original sources.
  • Tools disagree: record the disagreement. Averaging unrelated scores does not create reliable evidence.

04 / QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING

Before you trust the answer.

What is an AI detector tool?

It is software that estimates whether text resembles AI-generated writing. It produces a classification or score, not direct evidence of who wrote the text. This guide covers text detectors, not image or video deepfake detection.

Which AI detector is the best?

There is no universal winner established by this guide. Pick a workflow, check language support, and trial known-origin samples similar to your actual content. Evaluate both false alarms on human writing and missed AI text.

Can a free detector be enough?

A free entry point can help you explore occasional checks. For ongoing work, review current quotas, account requirements, export features and privacy terms on the official site. Free access does not guarantee a correct result.

Does AI detection check plagiarism?

No. AI detection estimates characteristics of generated writing; plagiarism checking looks for text overlap with sources. A product may offer both, but one result cannot replace the other.

Can I use these tools for Chinese text?

Check the specific product and model’s current supported-language list. Do not assume English performance carries over to Chinese. Translating the text first changes the material being measured.

What if human writing is flagged as AI?

Keep the original text and process records. Ask for a review of drafts and source work rather than repeatedly rewriting to chase a lower score. A flag should start a discussion, not automatically determine a penalty.
