Google has announced significant upgrades to Google Finance, including a new Android app and enhanced portfolio tracking features. The updates, rolling out starting this week, aim to simplify investment tracking and market analysis.
Portfolio Tracking
Users can now view all their investments in a single dashboard with performance data and asset allocation insights. Existing portfolios are automatically available, and new ones can be created by uploading screenshots, CSV, or PDF files, or by describing investments. The research tool allows natural language queries like "what sectors are currently underrepresented in my portfolio?"
Market Intel Briefings
A new feature lets users set up custom briefings by describing tasks such as "Send me a daily pre-market briefing analyzing significant overnight moves across major cryptocurrencies." Google Finance works in the background to deliver these briefings on a preferred schedule via notifications in the Google app (Android/iOS) or the research panel on the web.
New Android App
The new Google Finance app for Android provides access to watchlists, real-time data, a live financial news feed, an AI research tool, and AI-powered "key moments" explaining stock movements. Future updates will bring portfolio and task features, live earnings calls, and an iOS app later this year.
