Google is introducing Google Pics, an AI-powered tool for creating and editing images in Google Workspace. It is rolling out over the coming weeks to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and most Workspace business customers.

Built on Google’s Nano Banana image generation and editing model, Google Pics can help users create posters, social media graphics, digital illustrations, and other visual content. It will be available as a standalone product and integrated into Workspace, beginning with Google Slides and Docs, followed by Drive.
Precise image editing
Google Pics supports targeted edits instead of requiring users to recreate an image from scratch. Users can isolate objects and transform them without changing the rest of the composition. Text comments can identify specific areas for requested changes, including multiple edits in one instruction.

The tool can also modify or translate text inside an image while preserving the design and font. It generates multiple options from a single prompt, allowing users to select a preferred result, and supports sharing and collaborative editing with teammates.
Workspace integrations
Google says Pics will let users create and edit visuals within the applications where they already work, eliminating the need to copy, paste, or switch tabs. The integration is starting in Docs and Slides, with Drive support scheduled to roll out over the coming weeks.
Users can try Google Pics at pics.new, including workflows that bring files from Google Drive into Pics for tasks such as developing brand concepts.
