Google joined XPRIZE and Range Media Partners earlier in 2026 to launch the Future Vision XPRIZE, an international film competition seeking optimistic visions of a future shaped by technology. Drawing on a deeply personal story, the film follows an 11-year-old boy who uses code to reconstruct his deceased mother’s voice and essence. The resulting presence spreads through the town’s networks, discreetly looking after the wider community. The premise expresses the filmmaker’s view that empathy and human connection are central to technology’s potential.
Developed by Synthesized alone, The Gifted was selected from more than 2,500 submissions from around the world. The award includes $100,000 and $2.5 million in funding for feature production. Google and Range Media Partners will support its move to the big screen through Google’s 100 ZEROS initiative.
