Google Search Adds Live Football Feeds and AI Fantasy Roster Advice

Google announced football updates for Search on September 9, 2026, including live game coverage, expanded statistics and fantasy account connections that enable personalized recommendations.

Arriving as the U.S. football season begins, the features cover following games, tracking players and managing fantasy rosters.

Live Game Feed combines updates and AI insights

Searching for a game in progress now displays a red Live icon that opens the Live Game Feed. It includes a summary of the action so far and an updating timeline with play-by-play coverage, prominent social commentary, key video highlights and AI-powered insights.

The professional football feed is available on mobile in the U.S. in English. Google plans to add collegiate teams and expand availability to more users worldwide later in September 2026.

More scores, player metrics and playoff information

Matchup searches now include a carousel showing scores from other games across the league, reducing the need for separate searches.

Additional statistics rolling out this season will identify league leaders in categories such as passing touchdowns and rushing yards. More detailed player metrics will include sacks, fumbles and yards after catch.

Search will also add championship favorites and playoff brackets soon. Google says these updates, including the matchup carousel, will be available globally on mobile.

Fantasy accounts connect to AI Mode

Users can now connect a Yahoo Fantasy or Sleeper account to Search for customized fantasy football guidance through AI Mode. Asking AI Mode for lineup assistance brings up an option to securely link an account.

With an account connected, Search can use a user's live roster and information from all their leagues to suggest starters, bench choices and waiver wire targets. Users do not need to enter roster data manually or provide screenshots. They can also request assessments of their draft selections or weekly summaries of developments across the league.

Google says the feature is intended for fantasy players of all experience levels and will be refined throughout the season. Users can submit suggestions through the thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls on AI Mode responses.

Fantasy football app connections are available in the U.S. in English.
